Why would my husband think I would hurt him?

My husbands very expensive game has been water damaged and some of his games have been ruined. He thinks it was either me or my aunt. My aunt is our landlord . We are not on very good terms because we have been late for rent for a couple of months. She has been treating us very harshly. My husband thinks one of us did it. and i've been trying to show him, look, I would never ever do anything like that to you or anybody. I admit we have our days and we even had a disagreement that night before, but thats just not my thing plus I really love my husband and i would never hurt him. I've never given him a reason not to trust me so i don't know why he would even think that. The other thing is my aunt has a history of being very devious and spiteful, she know my husband loves video games too, and the guift she gave us for V day is all of a sudden missing on the same day. so yes I know from the bottom of my heart that she did it. How do I get him to see that it wasn't me?
