What is the best cheap electric guitar for Blues/Country?

I'm a grad student, so money is a big hurdle, but I'd like to get a decent quality electric guitar mainly for country and blues. I'm trying to figure out what style of guitar would be best (ie kinds of pickups, strat vs. tele, ect.) and use that to try and find a knockoff model that I could afford or might find used in that range. I've heard tele's are great for country, but its tougher finding a cheap one. Blues, I like all kinds, so no help there. I really appreciate the help!
