Canine Pain Relievers???

My vet perscribed me some NSAID type pain reliever for my puppy, he still yelps and cries out in pain when he`s up and about, any suggestions on how I could make his little leg more comfortable. The vet isn`t comfortable giving me anything stronger for a puppy..... Any suggestions???My puppy broke his back leg yesterday.
