In Hamlet, do Claudius and Laertes get along in the beginning?

On Sparknotes it says in the translation that the king would do anything for laertes and thats why he allowed him to go to france.. but in the movie, he kinda acts with attitude toward laertes when he doesnt talk or something?? So did they get along or noo? :/ Thankss
